Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I send in my team's game results for display on the
web site?
- What do we do in case of a rain delay and we can't get our
game completed?
- What if the Umpire doesn't show up for our game?
- What if I don't have enough players for a game? Can I
let someone else play?
First check your team's web page to see if the score has already been posted;
please send only the
results for games that are not yet posted. You can send an email to the
Web Scorekeeper
scores@cantondizzydean.org.
When you do, send your date of the game, team's age group, team names and the
score. In a departure from last year, we do need the score and not just
the win/loss information, as the website will calculate the wins and losses from
the score. With the new system, we hope to have scores and standings updates
much faster than in the past.
3/16/08 - 5/6 - Tigers 5, Dodgers 11
3/22/08 - 9/10 - Padres 8, Yankees 7
Here is what rule 5:05 says at the
Dizzy Dean web site:
5:05
Any game called for bad weather after three
(3) complete innings will be considered a complete game. If interrupted
before three completed innings the game will be rescheduled at the point
of interruption. Tournament play will be six (6) full innings always.
We now have an Umpire Manager who will be in contact with the Head of
Umpires. If your Umpire is not there, call the Umpire Manager. You
can find his contact information on the Board of Directors
page.
On the rules page under the Local Park Rules section 1, it reads:
1. (1984): Any team can
start a game with eight (8) players, but if said team loses down to seven
(7) players, by injury, ejection, or any other reason causes the team to
forfeit the game. If both teams have only seven (7) players, both teams
forfeit.
Also under the Local Park Rules in section 13 it reads:
13. Any team 7-8 or 10-18
who does not have enough roster players show up for a game may pull up from
their farm team enough players not to exceed nine (9) or to exceed the
opposing teams fielding players. Players pulled up must play in the outfield
or catch. If a roster players shows up late, he must be inserted in the farm
players batting position and the farm players then will become ineligible to
play.
If you're wondering what constitutes a farm team, there is a section near the
end of the Local Park Rules called Farm Teams and it reads:
Farm League Team 8 and under cannot
be used as a Farm Team for the 9 year League. Minor League start at 9 year
minor teams can pick a team below them. Note one (1) age down with the same
name and jersey. If no team is available the League VP will designate a team
for that season. All teams must use same team all season 12 year old Farm
Team for the 13 and 14 can only play outfield when pulled up to play.
Managers must get permission from 12 yr. manager or parent for player to be
pulled up.
